El Nevado del Huila is sourced from producers in the picturesque towns of Santa Maria and Pitalito, located in the breathtaking landscapes of Northern and Southern Huila. Named after Colombia’s tallest volcano, this coffee is as impressive as the 5,500-meter peak that inspires it.
What sets El Nevado del Huila apart is its meticulous creation process at the dry mill. Each small lot that contributes to this community blend is carefully selected, with multiple cuppings performed to ensure only the highest quality beans make it into the final selection. From the moment the producer presents a sample at one of our buying stations, the coffee is tested for quality and consistency as well as ensuring the flavor profile is within the standards of the community lot. Once approved, it moves to the warehouse where it's cupped again, ensuring the coffee is up to standards for the intended blend before being stored in GrainPro bags for protection until final milling.
Truly supporting coffee producers means not just cherry picking their top lots, but buying their entire harvest that may vary in quality from their best micro lot. These coffees can be blended into community lots like this one to create a sweet, clean, and classic cup of Colombian coffee that is very representative of the regional flavor profile.
